Labrinth Scores HBO Smash Hit Euphoria

Hey Labrinth, are you getting enough sleep lately?! The past year for this Grammy-nominated producer, singer-songwriter, and composer has arguably been his most tremendous. From his latest milestone as the lead composer of HBO’s critic and audience acclaimed Euphoria, to super-grouping with world-class acts like Sia & Diplo as LSD and collaborating with Beyoncé for the new Lion King movie, we see his monumental musical momentum.

This year Labrinth landed the lead-composer role on HBO’s hit series Euphoria, an account of modern teen trials from the dark mind of series creator Sam Levinson starring the influential actor and singer Zendaya. The score was powerful, passionate, personal, and perfectly complimented the picture. In an interview with Variety, Labrinth said, “Euphoria has challenged me creatively like nothing I’ve made before in my life…this has been incredible for me to be literally a nomad just exploring the musical world…” Labrinth first worked with writer and director Sam Levinson on his Sundance success Assassination Nation where he wrote and performed the original song “Incredible” for the film’s soundtrack.

Simultaneously, Labrinth was writing and composing the song “Spirit” for the live-action Lion King alongside Ilya Salmanzadeh and Beyoncé, who also performed the song for the film’s soundtrack. The hugely successful single was also released on Beyoncé’s latest album The Lion King: The Gift which she personally describes as “…Sonic cinema…” and “…a new experience of storytelling.”

If you’re a longtime fan, you may remember Labrinth’s 2010 debut appearance at #1 on the UK charts with British Hip-Hop Phenom Tinie Tempah on the single “Pass Out” and their subsequent 2011 single “Earthquake” which debuted at #2. In 2016, he invaded the radio on “Make Me (Cry)” with the sonically sultry Noah Cyrus, and “Fragile” from EDM all-star Kygo’s debut studio album Cloud Nine. He was nominated for a Grammy that year alongside the production team on The Weeknd’s smash album Beauty Behind The Madness for his feature on the track “Losers.” That album also included the sensational hits “The Hills” and “Can’t Feel My Face.”

In May of 2018, Labrinth joined forces with Sia & Diplo to create the electronic supergroup LSD which has been welcomed with open arms by pop & electronic audiences.
